What The Remap Calculator Shows You
Power and Torque
Two figures come back for your engine. Power is what it makes at the top of the rev range, measured in hp (horsepower). Torque is the pulling force lower down, and it’s the one you’ll feel every day, which is measured in nm (Newton metres).
Stage 1 and Stage 2 Gains
A Stage 1 remap is software only, on a standard car, and it costs from £300. A Stage 2 remap is for modified cars already running upgraded parts and it costs from £350. Typically, you’ll see between 15%-35% improvement with a stage 1 remap, and between 30-60% increase with a stage 2.
Important: a remap is a software change. It’s not a repair, and it won’t hide a worn turbo, a tired clutch or an underlying fault. We run diagnostics before we write anything, and if the car isn’t fit to be remapped, we’ll tell you.

How accurate is the remap calculator?
It’s an honest estimate for your engine rather than a measurement of your individual car. Condition, mileage, service history and fuel all move the final number. We confirm what’s realistic once we’ve run diagnostics.

I’ve seen bigger figures elsewhere. Why?
Published figures for the same engine vary a lot between companies, and the biggest number is rarely the best one. Usually it’s written with the engine’s protections turned down. Tell us what you were quoted and we’ll give you an honest answer on whether it’s achievable and what it would cost the engine to get there.
Will a remap damage my engine?
A properly written file works inside the tolerances the engine was designed around. The risk comes from maps chasing a headline number with the protections turned down. We tune inside the limits and run diagnostics first.
Will it affect my fuel economy?
It can improve it, especially on diesels doing motorway miles, because the engine works less hard for the same job. Use the extra performance every time you drive and you’ll use more fuel.
Do I need to tell my insurer?
Yes. A remap counts as a modification and has to be declared. Most insurers are fine with it. Not declaring is what causes problems.
Is it reversible?
Yes. We save your original file and can put it back whenever you want, whether that’s before a dealer visit, a warranty claim or a sale.

Once you’ve had a Stage 1 or Stage 2 remap, your engine is making more torque than the gearbox was originally programmed to expect. By leaving the TCU standard, it will often pull power back to protect itself, or shift at points that no longer match where the engine is strongest.
