TERMS & CONDITIONS

Vehicle Condition

To ensure the best results, Proper Remaps will not perform remapping on vehicles that are faulty, poorly maintained, or in unsuitable condition. Before booking, customers must confirm that their vehicle is roadworthy, serviced at recommended intervals, and maintained using genuine parts or OEM equivalent. The cambelt, water pump, and gearbox oil should be replaced or serviced according to the manufacturer’s schedule.

Although Proper Remaps can provide optional diagnostic checks at additional cost, our service does not replace the role of a mechanic. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure all information given to us is accurate and up to date.

Vehicle Inspection

At the appointment, our technician will carry out:

  • A visual inspection of the vehicle (including under the bonnet).
  • A full diagnostic scan using professional tools.

These checks help us confirm if your vehicle is suitable for remapping. If the vehicle fails the health check, Proper Remaps reserves the right to refuse service.

Passing a diagnostic or visual inspection does not guarantee the absence of underlying or future mechanical faults. Some issues may only become apparent under increased load or over time following remapping.

Remapping Process & Payment

If the vehicle passes inspection, the remapping service can proceed. After completion, the customer will be asked to test drive the vehicle to confirm satisfaction. A follow-up diagnostic check will also be carried out, and copies of the reports can be provided upon request.

Full payment is expected once the service has been completed and the results explained.

Scope of Service

Proper Remaps only provides software tuning. We do not perform physical modifications or hardware upgrades. Remapping involves modifying the parameters within your vehicle’s ECU (engine control unit) software to enhance performance, efficiency, or drivability.

Please note: Remapping increases engine workload, which may highlight or accelerate pre-existing weaknesses in mechanical components.

Responsibility & Liability

  • Proper Remaps does not accept liability for mechanical failures following remapping, as such issues are commonly related to pre-existing wear or vehicle condition. This includes, but is not limited to, clutches, gearboxes (manual or automatic), differentials, driveshafts, and other drivetrain components, which are subject to increased load following tuning.
  • Claims that a fault is the result of the remap (and not a mechanical issue) must be raised within 30 days and supported by an independent diagnostic report from a specialist garage or main dealer. In such cases, a refund of the remap cost may be considered at the sole discretion of Proper Remaps.
  • Refund requests due to dissatisfaction with performance results must also be made within 30 days. Results may vary depending on the make, model, and condition of the vehicle.

All vehicles presented to Proper Remaps are declared fit for remapping by the customer. Proper Remaps will not be held responsible for issues related to overdue servicing, neglected maintenance, or hidden faults.

Remapping or tuning may void the manufacturer’s warranty. It is the customer’s responsibility to confirm this with their vehicle manufacturer.

It is the customer’s responsibility to declare any remapping or tuning modification to their insurer and ensure the vehicle remains legal for road use. Proper Remaps accepts no liability for insurance invalidation, fines, or legal consequences resulting from undeclared modifications.

Any liability accepted by Proper Remaps, where proven, shall be limited to the cost of the remapping service paid by the customer. Under no circumstances shall Proper Remaps be liable for indirect, consequential, or economic losses including but not limited to loss of earnings, recovery costs, or vehicle downtime.

Performance Gains

Figures for power, torque, and fuel efficiency provided on our website or in consultation should be regarded as guidelines only. Due to differences in ECU versions, hardware condition, and individual vehicle variations, results may be higher or lower than stated.

Proper Remaps continuously updates its tuning data, but outcomes may vary depending on your specific vehicle.

Lifetime Software Warranty

Proper Remaps provides a lifetime software warranty on all remaps, valid for the lifetime of the vehicle.

This warranty covers the remap software only and applies solely to the original vehicle and ECU on which the remap was installed. It does not cover mechanical components, sensors, wiring or any hardware related faults.

The lifetime software warranty becomes immediately void if the vehicle’s ECU software is altered, overwritten, updated or modified by any third party after the remap has been installed. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Manufacturer or main dealer software updates
  • Diagnostic or software updates carried out during servicing or a recall work
  • Software changes made by another tuning company or individual
  • ECU cloning, replacement, or reprogramming for any reason

If the original remap software is overwritten or modified, reinstatement of the remap may be offered at an additional cost, subject to compatibility and availability of the original file.

It is the customer’s responsibility to inform any garage, dealer, or third party that the vehicle has been remapped prior to any diagnostic work or software updates being carried out.

Proper Remaps reserves the right to verify the ECU software before honouring any lifetime warranty claim.

Consent

By proceeding with a remap, the customer confirms they understand that ECU tuning alters manufacturer settings and carries inherent mechanical risk. The customer accepts these risks in full and agrees to the terms outlined in this disclaimer.
