What is a Gearbox Remap?
Custom TCU Programming
An engine remap changes the engine’s ECU (Engine Control Unit). A gearbox remap changes the TCU (Transmission Control Unit), the separate control unit that determines when your car shifts, how quickly it shifts, and how firmly it engages each gear.
Manufacturers programme gearboxes conservatively. They’re tuned for comfort, emissions testing and the widest possible range of drivers, which means shifts are deliberately slowed down and the box is often reluctant to hold a gear or drop one when you need it.
We rewrite that software to suit how the car is actually being used and to match your driving style, while staying inside the mechanical limits your transmission was built to handle.
Important: a gearbox remap is a software change to the TCU. It’s not a repair, and it won’t fix a slipping clutch pack or a mechanical fault.

Shift Speed
This is the single change most drivers feel immediately. Gear changes are tightened up so the box swaps ratios noticeably faster.
Shift Points
Upshift and downshift points are moved to suit the engine’s real power band, so no more going soft mid-acceleration, and no more hunting up and down on a hill.
Clutch Pressure
This one is particularly important if your engine has been remapped. The clutch clamping pressure is increased so it can hold the extra torque.
Torque Limiters
Again, the last thing you want after remapping your engine is to find out your gearbox is now a bottleneck. We can raise the factory torque limits so the gearbox isn’t capping the power your engine is now making.
Throttle & Kickdown Response
Pedal response and kickdown behaviour are sharpened so the car reacts when you ask, reducing input lag that sometimes happens on factory settings.
Gear Hold & Sport Behaviour
Manual mode means manual. Select a gear and the box holds it instead of quietly upshifting behind your back, and Sport mode stops slurring back into economy shifts the moment you lift off.

If you’ve had a Stage 1 or Stage 2 remap, your engine is making more torque than the gearbox was originally programmed to expect. By leaving the TCU standard, it will often pull power back to protect itself, or shift at points that no longer match where the engine is strongest.
