We read the existing software and save your original file so the car can always go back to standard. The new map is then customised to your specific needs, flashed back on, and the car is checked over before we leave.

Important: a remap is a software change. It’s not a repair, and it won’t hide a worn turbo, a tired clutch or an underlying fault. We run diagnostics before we write anything, and if the car isn’t fit to be remapped, we’ll tell you.

Are mobile remaps any good?
When done the PROPER way, absolutely! A mobile remap is the same job as a workshop remap. The software is read off the ECU, the new file is written and flashed back, and none of that needs a ramp or a workshop. The equipment is portable and the work happens through the car’s diagnostic port.
What makes a remap good or bad isn’t where it’s done. It’s whether the file was written for your car or pulled off a database, and whether anyone checked the engine’s condition before flashing it. We do both, wherever the car happens to be parked.

Is ECU remapping safe?
Done properly, yes. The risk comes from maps written to hit a headline number, with the engine’s built-in protections turned down or removed to get there. That’s where you hear stories about clutches, turbos and gearboxes giving up early.
We tune inside the tolerances the engine was designed around, and we run diagnostics first. If the car has an underlying fault, a remap won’t hide it and we won’t write one until it’s sorted.
Is remapping legal?
Remapping a car is legal in the UK. The car still has to meet the emissions standards it’s tested against at MOT, and a properly written map keeps it there.
Two things you do need to handle: tell your insurer, and check the terms of any manufacturer warranty still on the car. Neither makes remapping illegal, but ignoring either can cost you.
Can I remap my own car?
The tools exist, and plenty of people try. The problem isn’t getting a file onto the ECU, it’s what’s in the file. A generic download written for a different car, on an engine nobody checked first. A failed write mid-flash can also leave the ECU needing recovery, which costs considerably more than having it done properly.

Once you’ve had a Stage 1 or Stage 2 remap, your engine is making more torque than the gearbox was originally programmed to expect. By leaving the TCU standard, it will often pull power back to protect itself, or shift at points that no longer match where the engine is strongest.
